GLY tracking: what it is and how to follow your parcel

GLY on your order page is a consolidator label used by Chinese sellers, not a carrier with its own delivery network. Here is how to track it to your door.

If your AliExpress, Temu or similar order shows "GLY" as the carrier, tracking works exactly like any other parcel: paste the tracking number into your marketplace or a universal tracker. As for what GLY actually is, here is the honest picture: GLY is a shipping label that marketplaces and sellers use for consolidated economy freight out of China. It is not a carrier with its own delivery network, and public information about who operates it is thin. In practice this changes nothing about how you track or escalate the order. The parcel still moves through the same postal chain as every other economy shipment from China.

What GLY actually is

Orders from Chinese marketplaces rarely ship with a single carrier from door to door. The seller hands the parcel to a consolidator, who bundles thousands of parcels into one export shipment, flies it to your region, and injects it into your local postal service. "GLY" is the name the marketplace shows for one such consolidator arrangement; the underlying physical journey is handled by ordinary logistics operators and national postal services.

The important consequence: nobody named GLY will ever deliver anything to you. The last stretch is always your local carrier.

How to track a GLY shipment

Paste the tracking number from your order page into a universal tracker like Parcel Detect. Universal trackers matter here because a GLY shipment involves at least two systems (the consolidator's and your local postal operator's), and each system can only see its own half.

Expect tracking to follow the standard China-export pattern:

  1. Label and consolidation events in China
  2. "Handed over to airline" or a similar export status, followed by a silent gap of one to several weeks while the parcel travels without scans (the same phenomenon described in what "sent to airline" means)
  3. Arrival and customs events in your country (see what "office of exchange" means)
  4. Handover to the local postal service, often with a new, linked tracking number
  5. Normal domestic delivery scans

Who delivers the parcel in my country

The last-mile carrier depends on your country. For the most common destinations it is the national postal operator: USPS in the US, Royal Mail in the UK, Correios in Brazil, Canada Post in Canada, Australia Post in Australia. If the tracking history shows a second tracking number at the handoff point, track that number directly on the local carrier's site for the most current delivery estimate.

How long does a GLY shipment take?

Economy freight from China is slow everywhere. Rough working ranges once the parcel actually leaves China:

  • United States: 2 to 4 weeks (Canada and Mexico often run longer, since many parcels share the same US-bound linehaul first)
  • Europe: 2 to 4 weeks
  • South America: 3 to 6 weeks

Total time from order to door is longer, because the export phase before the flight can add days or weeks on its own.

When to act

The thresholds that work for any China-origin economy parcel apply here too:

  • More than 30 days of silence after the export scan, in a normal season: contact the seller.
  • More than 45 days, or any dispute-window deadline approaching: open a dispute on the marketplace. Do not let it expire while you wait.

The general playbook for a silent tracker is in why your parcel is not tracking.

Frequently asked questions

Is GLY a real shipping company?

It is a real shipping arrangement, but not a carrier in the way DHL or USPS are. As far as public records show, there is no GLY fleet, no GLY customer service, and no GLY post office. Your contract is with the seller and the marketplace, and any claim goes through them.

My GLY tracking shows nothing at all. What now?

Brand-new numbers can take a few days to produce their first event. After a week of nothing, read what "electronic data received" means: the label exists, the parcel may not. That article includes the dispute deadlines that matter.

The tracking switched to a different number I do not recognize

That is the handoff to your local carrier, and it is a good sign: the parcel is in your country. Track the new number on the local postal service's site, or keep using a universal tracker, which follows both automatically.
