Privacy Policy

Who We Are

Parcel Detect (parceldetect.com) is an independent, third-party package tracking aggregator. Think of it as a search engine built specifically for tracking numbers — we query publicly available carrier data and present it in one place.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any shipping carrier, postal service, or logistics company. When we mention carrier names, logos, or trademarks, we do so only for identification purposes — to let you know which carrier your package is with. That's descriptive use, not a claim of partnership.

We don't ship packages. We don't move freight. We just help you find out where your stuff is.

What This Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use Parcel Detect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over it. It applies to this website and any associated tools or features.

If you use our site, you're agreeing to the practices described here.

What We Collect

We don't require an account to use Parcel Detect. That means we collect very little about you personally. Here's what we do collect:

Data you give us directly:

  • Tracking numbers you enter into the search field
  • Feedback or messages sent to us by email

Data collected automatically when you visit:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages visited and time spent on them
  • Referring URL (where you came from)
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies

We do not collect names, email addresses, payment information, or any sensitive personal data (such as health, race, religion, or biometric data). We don't require login or registration.

Why We Collect It

We use this data for a small number of specific purposes:

  • Showing you tracking results — your tracking number is sent to carrier APIs so we can fetch the status of your shipment.
  • Keeping the site working — technical data like IP and browser info helps us diagnose errors and maintain performance.
  • Security and abuse prevention — we monitor for unusual patterns (like automated scraping or spam) to protect the service for everyone.
  • Understanding how the site is used — aggregate analytics help us figure out what's working and what isn't.
  • Showing relevant ads — we work with advertising networks (like Google AdSense) to display ads that help fund the service.

We don't use your data to build profiles about you. We don't make automated decisions that have legal or significant effects on you.

Cookies

We use cookies — small text files stored in your browser. Here's what they're for:

Essential cookies — needed for the site to function at all. You can't opt out of these.

Analytics cookies — tools like Google Analytics collect anonymized data about how visitors use the site (which pages are popular, how long people stay, etc.). This data is aggregated and doesn't identify you personally.

Advertising cookies — ad networks use these to show ads based on your browsing behavior. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google's Ad Settings or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out.

Most browsers let you control or delete cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may affect some site functionality.

Who We Share Data With

We don't sell your personal data. Period.

We do share limited data with third parties to operate the service:

  • Carrier APIs and logistics data providers — your tracking number is sent to these services to retrieve shipment status. They operate under their own privacy policies.
  • Analytics providers (such as Google Analytics) — receive anonymized usage data.
  • Advertising networks (such as Google AdSense) — may receive your IP address and cookie data to serve relevant ads.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers — our servers and cloud providers process traffic data as part of normal operations.

We require these parties to handle data responsibly and only for the purposes we specify. We don't authorize them to use your data for their own unrelated purposes.

We may also disclose data when legally required — for example, in response to a court order or valid legal request from authorities.

International Data Transfers

Parcel Detect serves users globally. This means your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States and the European Union.

Parcel Detect is not based in Brazil. We operate from servers and infrastructure located outside Brazil. If you are a Brazilian user, your data may be processed internationally — we comply with the LGPD because we serve Brazilian users, not because we are located there.

For EU/EEA users, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission. For Brazilian users, any international transfer of your data follows mechanisms recognized under the LGPD, including standard contractual clauses or other means approved by the ANPD.

We take reasonable steps to ensure that data transferred internationally receives an appropriate level of protection, regardless of where you are located.

Data Retention

We keep data only as long as it serves a legitimate purpose:

  • Tracking queries — not stored longer than necessary for the session or for basic security logging (typically a few days).
  • Server logs (IP addresses, access logs) — retained for up to 90 days, then deleted or anonymized.
  • Analytics data — retained in aggregated form per the policies of our analytics providers (typically 26 months for Google Analytics, unless you configure otherwise).
  • Email correspondence — kept as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry.

When data is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data:

  • HTTPS encryption on all connections
  • Access controls limiting who can view server logs
  • Regular review of third-party services we use
  • Monitoring for unauthorized access or unusual activity

No system is completely secure. We can't guarantee that a determined attacker could never access our systems, and we're honest about that. What we can tell you is that we don't store sensitive data, which limits what could be exposed in the event of a breach.

If we ever become aware of a data breach that affects your rights, we'll notify relevant authorities and, where required, affected users within the timeframes required by applicable law.

Accuracy of Tracking Data

Tracking information displayed on Parcel Detect comes from third-party carrier APIs and public data sources. We display it as-is.

We cannot guarantee that tracking data is accurate, complete, or up to date. Delays in carrier systems, API outages, or simply the gap between when a package moves and when that movement is recorded can all cause discrepancies.

Parcel Detect is not responsible for decisions made based on tracking information displayed on this site. For critical shipping matters, always verify directly with your carrier.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have different rights over your data.

For everyone:

  • You can contact us to ask what data we hold about you.

Children's Privacy

Parcel Detect is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data to us, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify users (such as a notice on the site).

Continuing to use Parcel Detect after an update means you accept the revised policy.
